my cat has lost weight

hi there, my cat kukkie is usually round your feet as soon as you walk in the front room and shes usually always purring. but recently ive noticed you can feel her bones in her back a bit more than ever, even though she is eating and drinking.

she hasnt been round my feet either and just seems sad and lethargic.

at first i thought it was a hairball but its been two days and no sign of one, shes and indoor cat, 6years old and is mostly persian in breed (so she has very long fur)

hope you can help.

Hi Hannah
There are several conditions which can cause weight loss. Diabetes, heart issues and thyroid problems are the first three which pop to mind. to be honest you really do need to take your cat to the vets so that some tests can be carried out as this is the only way to determine the possible problem.

I have some pages on my site about some of the issues i mention above just for your information. Here they are

feline-heart-disease.html

feline-diabetes.html

best wishes kate
