my cat hates the cat i just adopted...

I always felt like my cat as my kid cuz his mama died so I bottle fed him and did what a mama cat would do. He's 3 now I love him so. But a couple girls told me about this 8yrs old cat whose been at petsmart for a long time. Ears were lost to frost bite....my heart went out to him, so I got him. I've never seen my 3yr old cat so nasty and mean. I want everyone to be happy! What can I do to help them get along!?

well this is a natural cat reaction to a strange cat in his home. unfortunately there are no guarantee that he will ever be best friends with him but you may be able to get them to live, lets say amicably with each other.

you need to go through the introduction process with the cats. it does take some time and effort on your part but it does help them in the long run to build confidence and trust in each other without the fear of injury. the process is described here on this page
