My Cat won't stop crying

Hello,

My seven month old cat, Dexter won’t stop crying almost and he walks around with his tail in the air as if he was in heat. But he is neutered. Also, lately I have also noticed that he has not been pooping often.

I do have an appointment with his vet next week but I am worried that I am waiting to long. Is this serious or am I just being a paranoid first cat owner?

Please help!

Hi No you are not being paranoid, you are being a sensible caring cat owner. You have done the right thing in booking him a vet appointment, as excessive meowing can be an indication of ill health. Couple this with the fact that he may be constipated and yes a trip to the vets is a good idea.

Constipation in cats is not uncommon and i am often asked about it here. i have written a web page about it for further information here

As long as your cats symptoms do not become worse or if any new signs of illness of distress occur, waiting for the appointment should be fine.

I know it can be worrying but cats are very resilient creatures, i have owned cats all my life and I know just how strong they can be.

best wishes and i hope he is better soon.
