I need you help i have ran out of idea's. My cat is 2 years old he is quite a big cat is a prescription diet from the vets. he is a house cat because i have main roads on my frond and back of my house. The problem is at night or should i say early hours in the moring at about 5am he constantly meow's and scrathes my carpet on my stair's i now have one step that has no carpet left on it. i have tried to look on the internet what the problem could me and most people say it is because he is hungry but he's big already so i cant possibly give him any more food. when i give him his food he is fed 2 times a day 30g of dried food which is what the vet recomended but as soon as i put it in his bowl its gone occasionally he leaves the odd one in his bowl for about 10mins later. there is always fresh water and mink down so he's not dehydrated. if you can help me i would be very greatful.
Thanks Jemma

this is a very normal occurance is not caused by hunger but by boredom. Cats are naturally more active at night and they just don't understand why we are all in bed. the meowing and scratching is to get your attention for some attention. My own cat does it sometimes.
I always recommend a energentic game with your cat about half and hour before bedtime and a small meal. ALos you may have to put your cat in a seperate room with lots of toys and scratching posts along with thier bed and litter tray, but htis may not be necessary if the cat can learn to sleep through.
best wishes
