My cat wretches often.

by Leigh Anne

My cat wretches often without actually throwing up. She's been doing this for about two weeks. She's a little over 13 years old and is overweight. She doesn't have any other problems and other than the wretching, her behavior is normal.

Should I take her to the vet or is this normal behavior for older cats?

Thank you!

hi well it could be hair balls. Sometimes cats have difficulty getting these up which can cause them to wretch or vomit just white foam.

I have a page about hairballs here

https://www.our-happy-cat.com/hairballs.html

However if this continues for much longer then i would definitely recommend that you take her to see a vet in case there is something stuck in the throat.

i hope she is Ok again soon

best wishes Kate
