my fixed male cat had vanished

by Tessa

I had 2 cats 1 is 3 and the other was 2, the 3 year old is due to have babies in a week, both of them grew up together for the last 2 years, the 2 year old was fixed last year and was a male, the 3 year old is like I said due to have kittens in a week, Father being a different male cat of coarse, now when the female is close to having her kittens will the other cat even tho they grew up together and he is fixed just up and leave, now I am 36 years old and I have lost a lot of animals, but this one is the worst and I just don't understand why he is gone,

Hi
well as you know cats a re not pack animals and so do not generally like to live in large groups. it may be that the male cat has realised that their will be more cats around soon and has decided to take himself off or the female cat may have tried to shoo him away at this time.

However it may also just be coincidence and he may just be off on a wander and will return soon.

Please take a look at my pages about lost cats
https://www.our-happy-cat.com/lost-cats.html

and also my page about cat introduction so that if your male cat does return you can introduce the kittens to the male (once they are about two weeks old) to each other in such a way as to build confidence. as described here

https://www.our-happy-cat.com/introducing-cats.html

Hopefully he will return soon.

best wishes Kate
