my two cats

I have two white female cats, sisters and one of them has pulled her fur out for a couple of years. Her sister died suddenly from a terminal illness and now a week on, she isn't pulling out her fur. She just grooms herself as she should. Is it possible that she knew that her sister was seriously ill some time ago and was this her way of dealing with it? I hope this makes sense, I am still in shock from losing my baby.

hi
i am so sorry for your loss, its never easy to say goodbye.

The fur pulling is normally caused by either a skin allergy ie irritation or more commonly from anxiety.

it may well be that even though they were sisters your cat never felt completely relaxed around her and the fur pulling was the result.

or as you say you never know, she may have been aware that her sister was unwell and this was making her anxious. of course we will never know if this is true or not.
