neighbors cat is sick

I take care of my neighbors cat... He is (oscar) sick.. he is real thin, and he has a clear liquid discharging from his anus. He ate yesterday and drank a fair amount of water, then threw it up within a short time.... he goes to scream, but only a very, very faint sounds emenates. His eyes barely open..... Since he is not my cat I can only do soo much.. I make sure he is in a safe place at night so other amimals can not get to him, and make sure he has fresh food and water. I offered to take him to the vet, and my neighbor said they couldnt afford it, not really sure. I told them I would if they couldnt, and to get back to me. Have'nt heard anything yet... Anything I can do in the meantime... what could it be?

Hi, this is awful. This really doesn't sound good at all. The poor at is suffering.
If I were you I would go and speak to your neighbors now and simply say that the cat is very unwell and that you would like to take him to the vet now and are willing to pay for it. But they must agree that this is Ok. If they refuse then I'm sorry I would have to contact your local animal charity, it is against the law to allow animals to suffer I believe this is the same in most countries of the world.

I really think that a visit to the vets is his only option.
God bless you and I wish you luck in persuading your neighbors.

best wishes kate
