Neutered Male Cat Now humping and slight behavioral change

by Spike's Mom

My Russian Blue mix cat boy that has been neutered since kitten hood has currently started humping people and blankets.(Especially when you're asleep under them) He has also had slight behavioral changes, it's not much to notice but being his best buddy I've noticed. He's not as friendly and outgoing. I read online if you have a cat doing this type of behavior its either a.)they want more attention and when they do it you are to give them attention or b.) there could be something wrong. However whenever I hold him for more than a minute or two and he's not asleep he cries and whines.

I am going to make him a vet appointment just in case it's something, but in the mean time is there anything I can do?
Thank you for your time

Hi well this sort of behavior can be associated with a couple of things and is not uncommon. It could simply be caused by a memory or instinct and i have known neutered male cats to do this from time to time. It may be associated with boredom too.

The other possibility is that he has a hormone imbalance which is casing him to revert to this behavior. So I think taking him to the vets is a good idea to rule this out at the very least.

If the vet does not thin it is hormone related then yes it could be that your cat is seeking more stimulation n his life and so trying to make his home life more interesting to him would be worth looking into
