New Born Kitten problems

by Mazlie
(Calgary Canada)

I recently rescued a kitten which had almost died. He/She is the runt of the litter. I suppose it would be about 3weeks old. I have seperated her from the rest of the litter as she seems to be ill and needs some healing time. We live on a farm so the rest of the litter is outside.

She tends to cry alot but wont feed from a bottle or eat.
I have tried massaging her abdomen hoping she will go to the bathroom but no results yet. She seems to fall right asleep once she is in my arms but i still need her to feed.
Please, Does anyone know what to do!?.

I know it may be difficult for you to get to a vet but it is importnat that this little one is seen soon in case their is something physically wrong. often runts are born with problems. Also the vet can help boost them nutritionally to get them kick started.

make sure the milk you give is not cows milk but kitten milk and warm it up slightly. you will have to spoon it in and rub the throat to get it to swallow if they wont drink on their own.

I do hope he pulls through, best wishes kate
