New cat adjustment

by Pam

A few days ago, we adopted a 6 month old kitten. She is very skittish. She hides under the couch, or under beds. We have to move the bed or couch to get her out to eat. She'll sit in our laps and purr until she hears a loud noise and then she'll run away again. Do you think she'll adjust soon?

well some cats are just more nervous than others. Over time she may grow in confidence but may always remain a little skittish. It isn't really anything to worry about as long as she seems healthy in other ways.
Please read my page on this site under cat behavior about nervous cats, it may help to provide some more information.
