I have a cat who is 15, who in the past year has lost a tremedous amount of weight although she still eats the same food twice a day, and has dry food in her bowl at all times. She has recently started going to the bathroom outside of the litter box as well, she goes poop and pee right next to her box. She also has more of an interest in drinking and cries constantly everywher in the house as if she doesn't know where she lives. I have read in some cases that this could be an infection in her kidneys, but I am not sure. She is almost emaciated, you can feel her hip bones when you pet her, and she used to be a normal sized cat. She is still friendly and lovable, but does seem uncomfortable at times. What do you think this might be?

This could be a thyroid problem that needs urgent treatment. My own cat who is also 15 became very very thin but was still eating etc. The trouble is that muscle can also be eaten away if treatment is not received.
I would suggest a trip to the vets as soon as possible.
the urinating etc could be because your cat is feeling very unwell and possibly a little disorientated.
best wishes Kate
