my 8 month orange tabby cat sleeps on my legs at night in my bed but won't sit on my lap. she is affectionate but also does not like to be picked up. will this aloof behavior change with age?

Hi
unfortunately i doubt it. Cats develop their personalities early on and some cats are lap cats and some aren't.

I had a very affectionate cat for 13 years and she hated to picked up and would not sit on my lap but would sleep next to me at night. No matter how hard we tried she did not like lap sitting.

It has nothing to do with them being aloof its just what they like or don't.

best wishes kate
