panting 12 yr. old cat

Butterscotch, is 12 yr. old and today he is lying on his side with his tongue hanging out and panting,he has never done this before. he is over weight, but allows plays with the 2 other kittens we got for him to keep him active and "young" should we be worried>?

yes I think it would be wise to get your cat to see a vet as soon as possible. he may have heart problems due to his weight. But to make a proper diagnosis a examination will have to be carried out. It is not normal for a cat to ly with their tongue hanging out.

i have some information about feline heart conditions in case it is this which is causing the problem for your information here

best wishes kate
