Peek does this weird chewing thing

My cat Peek does this thing where he starts to chew even if nothing is in his mouth, he does it about 3 times + a day so im not sure if this is normal... i'll try to attach a video or a link.

sometimes cats will do this if they have a problem with one of their teeth. It may be an idea to try and take a look or even better have his teeth checked at the vets.

My cats sort of smacks her lips together which can also look slightly like chewing but only for about three chews, when she wants food or is thirsty. i think she thinks that it is the signal to us to get her some food.

However if it is more of a chewing action then i would say having him checked by the vet is probably the best answer.
