Prince not covering his poop

Ihave a 4y/o male cat who use to cover his poop when finished in the box.but,here recently he just leaves it on top.my 2 other cats always cover theirs.why would my cat not cover his poop anymore.and is there something i can do to help him? thx

Hi well one of the reasons is to allow the other cats to see it and smell it more easily. when cats poop around the house it is called Middening and is a territory marker. See this page for more information on this

You are lucky that he is still using his litter tray.

i assume that all your cats have separate litter trays, as if not this could be the cause of his not covering.

You could try the confinement litter training process described on the middening page as this will give your cat time to calm down and to also become more relaxed with his litter tray without the other cats being around.
