All You Need Is Love

All You Need Is Love

I was so happy when I got adopted from the Shelter. The people there were very friendly and tried their best to make me feel at home. Inside my little cage on the top shelf, I curled up in a soft quilted box to nap. I was very tired from birthing six kittens, six weeks ago. Most had been adopted. I was sooo happy they had good homes. Volunteer helpers would come by and take me out of the cage to hold me and pet me. I liked thata lot... But I began to worry... No one wanted an older cat like me. Cuddly little kittens were the first to go. Some days I just laid in my quilted box, dreaming of a new life.

Time passed.

What if no one wanted me? What if I never had a home?

Then one day, wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles. A lady came to visit with her husband. I heard her voice and peeked out of the box. One look at me. WOW! Her eyes lit up!

I knew she was The One!

They asked to see me in the private room. I was so excited. Did they like me as much as I liked them? I rubbed my head against her legs and licked his hand. "Please Please Please."

It didn' take long. The lady said right then and there, "She's the one."

"Me!" My heart beat so fast.

Then she whispered for me not to be afraid. I had to stay there over the weekend. On Monday after my surgery, they would return to bring me home. She would be thinking of me. And to remember...They were coming back to get me.

Monday evening, all the soon-to- be-adopted pets were brought to class to meet with their new family. I was so excited. When they called my name, Mama and Papa came and got me. They didn't forget just like she promised. I was leaving.

On our way home, they made a stop at the grocery store. While Mama ran in to buy catfood, my new Papa got in the backseat. He talked to me in my carrier. His voice was so kind as he shared how happy he was to have me join their family. When Mama came out, she was so surprised and touched to find Papa in the backseat. He smiled and said, "I wanted Angel to feel welcome and loved."

And, so I am!

I wish every kitten and cat the joy of being part of a loving family. It could happen...Don't give up hope.
