severe back pain with 4mo old cat

What would cause extreme pain (like pinched nerve in back) to 4mo old mainecoon kitten. The cat can barely move around and suffers gret pain when moved

Hi
sounds to me like he may have either been bitten or he may have fallen or twisted or even been fallen on.

back pain in such a young kitten is very unusual and would suggest some sort of physical injury caused by an outside source or possibly a birth defect but you probably would have noticed this sooner if this was the case.

In either case though your cat should be seen a by a vet as soon as possible for pain relief at the very least. Also the vet will be able to diagnose the actual cause more accurately via an examination. Sometimes injuries can be very difficult to spot. i recently took one of my cats to the vets because he wasn't eating and when we got him there the vet discovered that he had been bitten on the tail which i had not seen.

Hope the little fella is better soon

best wishes kate

Kitten back pain
by: Bill

NC state vet school suggested possible back bone infection....treatment is helping...am hopeful. Cat is eating well, still constipated...working on that.
