Sister was just spayed now brother is growling at her

we have 2 rescus kittens 5 months old... They got along great until yesterday.. The male is neutered and we took the female to get spayed yesterday.. When we brought her home her brother would get up close to her then growl and run away.. This is toatlly unusual since they were inseperable.?? any thoughts

yes this is a common experience. Basically your female cats smells differently and may even be acting slightly differently and this has frightened your male cat. cats react to fear with aggression.

This should subside but sometimes they need a little help by helping the cats to rebuild their confidence in each other in a safe controlled environment. I recommend a day or two of using the introduction method described on this page
