Smoky and kittens- A Cat Rescue Story

by Samantha
(Ottawa)

We had this kitten named Smoky, we found her in bad condition, you could see her bones, but her belly was fat, and she still was a kitten herself but yet she was expecting kittens herself.

We were outside when we found Smoky with an empty belly, we thought that she had had her kittens so we kept our eyes open, then my brother found them by the house on the really wet cold ground, we brought them inside to warm up, but sadly one by one each day they died because Smoky wasn't a good mother.

she brought them in the coldest place in the living room and left them there to die, I cried every night till' I thought I was gonna die, then finally the last 2 kittens died, I was furious at Smoky, but yet sympathetic because she didn't know any better, she was only a kitten after all, we buried them near our porch, and we stuck a stick there, so we could remember them.

But what made me most angry of all was that she got pregnant again, so my sister brought her to the Animal shelter, I don't know where she is right now, but I hope she and her kittens are safe.
Well thats my story, Bye!

Thank you for haring your story. Yes unfortunately stray cats do find themselves in this terrible position. Getting pregnant over and over again. Weakening their own health and giving birth to kittens that either die due to sickness or starvation.

You did a very important thing in taking her to the animal shelter. They will spay her so that she doesn’t have any more kittens and find her a good home hopefully.

I promote having cats neutered and spayed, there are a lot of cats out there who need our help and so thanks to people like you and your family they get it.
