My Fav bird watching spot

Hello Kitty lovers,
Let me introduce myself.
My name is "Smores" (dont that sound delicious)?
My human "Mary" rescued me and my mother "Snickers" in the winter of 2007 when our owner threw us out in the Michigan winter snow because they got a couple dogs.
I guess those dogs didn't like us much.
We had never lived outside so we didn't know what to do.
We was cold and hungry and clueless how to survive in those conditions.
We made our way to a porch of a lady that we sensed was a cat person. We sat on her porch and cried until she felt sorry for us and took us inside.
Her name was Kathy.
It was nice to be out of that cold weather and to find food available and a nice place to sleep.
Next thing we knew I heard her say that we was going to a local rescue so they could help us find good homes that would not toss us out again.
Kathy couldn't keep us as her husband had jusat died and she was on a limited income but she was a cat lover and wanted us to get good homes so she called the rescue lady and they said we could come there.
When we got to the rescue it was alittle scarey as there was alot of other cats there who had been tossed too, I guess.
They all was waiting to be adopted.
But it wasnt so bad there.
The 2 ladies who owned the rescue was a mother and daughter team named "Mary and Robyn".
They gave us warm cuddly bedding and good food and lots of love but we was still scared at first.
You know us cats dont like change much or maybe we just dont understand it so it takes us time to adjust.
My mother kitty accepted the move better than me.
(She is older so I guess she thought this was better than being cold and hungry) but I was curious.
I had never lived on the outside world before the night we got tossed out and I wondered if it was worth checking into.
So, a couple days after we moved into the rescue, a lady helping out there accidently opened the door for a moment and when I seen my chance, I dashed right out that door!
At first it was an adventure. I could hear Robyn walking the dark streets calling me to come to her and I could see her flashlight but I wanted to check out this freedom thing more before I went home for dinner.
My plan was to stay gone just alittle while but get back to my warm bed by bedtime but somehow I got lost.
Well, I was out there in that cold, searching for whatever food I could find for 10 long days trying to find my way back to that rescue but not having lived there but a couple days before I left ment my sense of direction was poor.

I had all but given up hope of finding the nice reacue ladies again when all of a sudden one day I made my way into a back yard that had a familiar look to it.
Could this be the rescue, I thought?
All of a sudden I seen the lady "Robyn" on the porch with some kitty food and she was calling me to come to her.
That food smelled good and stinky just how I like it and God knows I was starved but I was still alittle scared.
But I took a chance and walked closer to get another sniff of that kitty food when all of a sudden that lady grabbed me up and whisked me into the house.
My goodness, it was great to be warm again and all of a sudden being with alot of other homeless kittys wasn't so bad.
It was good to see my mama cat "Snickers" and she scolded me for not being trusting enough to stay where I belonged in the first place. But alas, I was safe and warm again.
I had learned my lesson and have never stepped foot on the outside again since then.

The owner of the rescue "Mary" fell in love with me and my mama.
She couldnt bear to adopt us out so she adopted us for her own.
So now me and mama live with Mary out in the country in North Carolina in the USA.
We have other kitty house mates who we have learned to tolerate.
I have gotton my human mama Mary very spoiled to me.
She calls me " her girl" or mamas baby and its ok cause I love her. I lay on her lap alot and nap as it is warm there and she rubs my head while I sleep.
I sleep in her big ole bed every night and cuddle close to her.
Yep, I guess I am a mamas girl but hey, it could be worse.
I could be homeless out in that snow again and starving.
I am grateful for my home and the love and attention I get here.
I am also grateful that mama Mary gave my mother kitty a home too. We was not seperated and thats good.
Well, It is a dreary day here in North Carolina and misting rain so you know what that means. (NAP TIME)
Mama is typing this for me as I havent learned the keyboard yet.
I am gonna hop on her lap while I can before one of the other kittys gets my spot.
Take care everyone.
Thanks for reading my diary and come back to see what I am up to soon. I have enclosed a pic of myself sitting in the bathroom where I do my bird watching out the window.
Hope you like my pic.
I'm a beautiful girl, huh?
