We called her "Smudge" as she has a grey nose & a beige smudge under her chin.
Comment from Kate
We should have called our Shelley, Smudge as he has a really cute little brown smudge just under his chin. But we had called his brother Byron after the poet and so wanted to give a poets name too thu Shelley.

My name is Joanna and I have a cat called Smudge. Me and my family named her as she has lots of different colours all smudged together like pastels or chalk. Before we got Smudge, we had a cat called Sox but he got hit by a car before he was one years old. It was extremely sad and I broke down in floods of tears when I found out. I sometimes think of him now and start crying even though it has been nearly a year since his decease. We got Smudge because we couldn't bare to live without a beautiful cat to stand by you when you need them. It wasn't to replace Sox but to keep our minds at bay from what happened. As I write this, Smudge is sitting in the middle of the hallway near my bedroom and is pregnant. I know this because her nipples are pink and bigger than usual. She also acts very protective over her belly and sometimes acts very strange. She also nests in boxes under my bed. I have absolutely no idea who the father is and my mum rang the vets earlier today. The vet said that if she was pregnant, she would probably be five weeks into it so we have about four weeks to wait. I am so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o excited. I feel like I did when we got Sox for the first time.I wonder if I will ever feel her babies kick. I hope she doesn't die during the process. I also wonder what we are going to call the new born. If anyone has any ideas, maybe you could post them here and I will check daily. I am looking for rare names. Thank you. I am drifting off the point of why I called my cat Smudge but I guess this could help anyone out there who is looking for a cat name or tips to see if their cat is pregnant. Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. x x x x

When i got my little ball of fluff i was totally lost as to what to call him. I sat and looked at him and he is white with a grey face which looked like someone had smudged him with ash and that is how he became SMUDGE.
