sparkles the cat and scent marking

My cat continues to poop behind the front door instead of her litter pan. She will use the litter pan to pee and will poop in it when SHE feels like it. She is 12 years old.

the front door area is a popular place for a cat to do this as she may be able to smell other cats from outside. She is therefore marking her territory.

All you can do is to thoroughly clean the area and spray the area after wards with some strong smelling spray such as citrus, this will often deter them from the area.

Perhaps clean around the front door with a mixture of water and bicarbonate of soda, inside and out and the step to try and remove any scents which may be causing her to feel the need to scent mark.
