spayed my cat, now she eats constantly

Is there a way to stop my cat from eating so much? It's gotten so bad that she won't even let my yorkie eat! She's 3 yrs old and we had her spayed about 4 weeks ago, which is when this all started. If we don't feed her she yells and meows constantly as loud as she can until we feed her. I'm at my wits end (since I'm at home with her constantly). Please, if there is anything that would help with this, I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Thank you!

Hi
This sounds to me like she is a little anxious which may have been caused by the visit to the vets etc. It's a sort of comfort eating.

You could try some of the cat calming sprays etc to see if that helps her relax. Feliway is one such spray and should be available from your vets. I also have a web page about anxious cats which you may find of further help here

Also try to create a routine for her regarding meal and play times. It won't be easy but cat;s respond well to routine as it helps to reassure them. SO if they get used to being fed at a certain time etc it helps them relax in the home environment.

Also if you are not around during the day make sure she has enough to keep her happy and occupied. Cats need a lot of sti, ulus. Please see this page for more on that.
