I have 2 cats; mother and daughter. I have had them for three years, since the daughter was 12 weeks. They were ferile and are now great pets. However, the mother cat recently is always attacking the daughter cat. The daughter cat is very fearful already to everyone and everything and now is so fearful of the mother she runs and hides. What could be causing this change in behavior?

Thanks

It may be something known as aggression trauma. This is a strange issue where one cat is scared by something, like a loud noise, having their tail trodden on etc. they then blame the other cat even if it had nothing to do with them.

The way to get their confidence back in each other is to go through the introducing cats process all over again. It helps them to get over the fear of each other. Here is the page about this process

best wishes Kate
