tom cat danger

by bj

i have a 2 months old female cat and we keep her in front of the house in the porch area close to the door. some neighbour tom cat has been visiting her for the past few nights and i'm affraid he will do something to her since she is free to walk in front of the house and can go back to her little house when she wants... but i'm still worried

Hi

Tom cats will definitely try to mate with her even though she is so young and this in itself can cause injury as she will try to fight him off and he will be much stronger than her and perhaps bite her etc too hard.

if it were me I would not let her outside at all until she has been spayed which is around 3 to 6 months old. This will prevent any accidental injury caused by male cats getting a little too frisky and also if she does mature quickly any unwanted pregnancies.

I have some pages about cat spaying etc which you may find of further information . here is the first one

https://www.our-happy-cat.com/neuter.html

I have male cats and even they came under attack from un neutered tom cats when they were small. It is very difficult to keep tom cats away i'm afraid.

best wishes Kate
