Unusual cat behavior

by Debbie
(Niagara Falls, NY)

My cat is about 6 years old, and until recently has never slept on the kitchen table. For the past few nites now he has been going to sleep on the kitchen table ! This has me baffled .... he is being treated for fleas, would this cause his change in his behavior?

Also, what can I do to stop him from doing this?

Thanks !

The honest answer is, who knows why cats suddenly decide to sleep somewhere new. I have had cats for years and every now and again they have suddenly decided to sleep somewhere completly new.

I don't know what it is about kitchen work surfaces but i often hear of cats choosing this place to sleep. which is not good for us.

The trouble is how to stop this while your in bed. You will either have to prevent him from getting into the kitchen at night or you will have to try and put things on the work surface at night to stop him sitting there, or you will have to cover the area with a cloth.

i think the second option is best. you could also try spraying the surface with a strong citrus smelling scent before you go to bed. This may help to deter him from the area as well.

best wishes kate
