My cat's name is actually Noisy, Ornery, Energetic, but Lovable- the anagram N.O.E.L. He was given this name for two reasons- 1) it was almost Christmas time and 2) he was a noisy little kitten. The man at the pound kept calling him "Noisy" and it sort of seemed right. But I think I jazzed it up. I told him that day to consider himself lucky. He almost got named "Burl" because his face looked exactly like Burl Ives as the Snowman in "Rudolph the red Nosed Reindeer." But if you think his name is funny, you ought to hear how my half Dalmatian, half something else was named Domino Pete. Sound like a bookie, doesn't it?

Starry-Eyed Aiden Pardus
My Aiden got his name from a baby name book - I was looking for a name for my brother, and I saw Aiden, looked at my kitten, and decided that was it. Sometimes, all it takes is looking up names, and when you find the right one, you just know. His middle name, Pardus, comes from the fact that he looks like a black leopard, a Panthera Pardus.

At first we didn't know our cat was a female. She's a black cat but on the back of her arms and legs and on her chest is a "brick" red color. Which is how we came about Brick. It stuck too, she became a very tom-catish kitty!

Pronounced as like in "Took-took" or "Mok-mok". Well I couldn't really think of a name as my neighbours had common cat names. I wanted something unusual and unique sounding. So that is why I have named my cat Bhut-bhut. People often say to me "Where did you get a name like that? Now that is something you would name a cat"!

Moorea is a pet-assisted therapy cat
My husband & I have traveled to the island of Moorea twice. It is located in the French Polynesian Islands, next to Tahiti. The island of Moorea is a happy, calm, welcoming place. When we were naming our newly adopted cat from the shelter, her happy, calm, and welcoming nature fit the name Moorea. She is a pet-assisted therapy cat with the San Diego chapter of Love on a Leash.

My husband named her Marika because he liked the sound of the name. She is the only kitten of Ripple's that we kept and she was born in our hall closet. My husband actually had to help her out of the sac as she was the smallest and weakest of the four kittens. She either thinks she is a human or that we are cats.

Xanthe surveying the world atop her litter box
"Xanthe" was the name of an Amazon. It also means "golden girl." Although my cat is not gold (she's a grey tabby) she is entirely fearless and thinks nothing of pouncing on her much older, larger (and crabbier) step-brother. She also enjoys escaping from the house, climbing to impossible heights and other dangerous activities.

I adopted this cat from a woman who named her dog Barley and her cat Hops, so essentially he is named after an ingredient in beer, but the name fits him. He is big and orange and he just looks like a "Hops".

I am a big Winston Churchill fan and as a boy at Harrow, he recited all of Macauley's Lays of Ancient Rome--Horatius. Plus, I am a big Lord Nelson fan--and Horatius is a latin version of Horatio.
I have to admit that my male yellow tabby is not the Captain of the Gate--so he is frequently called "Mr. Boy."

like the name a lot. I don't think i have heard of a cat called that before. Can you tell us more about them, is the fur long or short and when you say black and brown, which sounds very unusual, how does this look, even better do you have a picture you could send?

Herkemer
Herkemer is the name I gave my beloved Maine Coon kitty who passed away this past March. I saw or read it somewhere many years before I became Herkie's mommy and thought it would be a great cat name. I think it's a county in New York state. Although people would always chuckle or raise an eyebrow when I told them his name, the name fit him to a "T".
