Beautiful Lola

Beautiful Lola

Beautiful Lola Lola and her brother Billy in 2009 Lola as she sat on my desk and watched me work.

Today is August 5th 2010 and a sad day in my life.
I am sad to report that today marks the 2 month anniversary of my Precious Lola's passing.
Lola was put down on June 5th 2010 after a fall from the kitchen counter resulted in her being paralyzed in her entire rear hips and legs.
I was hopeful upon our trip to the vet that something could be done for her but the vet found that her fall was caused by a spinal tumor that had caused her to fall.We never had a clue she had this condition.
The paralysis resulted in total loss of the use of her hind legs and all bladder and bowel control. Although she was in no pain, her quality of life was gone.
To allow her to live on would have required around the clock care for her and the vet said she would eventually develop bladder blockages and with her being paralyzed, we would not know she was in distress until it was probably too late.
Lola was feral when I took her in 4 years ago at the tender age of 3 weeks old.
I spent many, many hours in her 4 years of life winning her trust and socializing her which I had been successful in doing.
She was very active and loved to run and jump and play with her fellow house cats.
To have allowed her to live without the ability to be a normal cat would have not been humane on her behalf.
So, As bad as it tore my heart apart, I made the judgment call on June 5th 2010 to have her put down and allow her to go to the Rainbow Bridge to RUN FREE and WITHOUT PAIN forever.
She was only 4 years old.
What a painful loss and I still cry everyday for her.
She was such a joy to my daily routine and she is greatly missed.
But always remembered with much love and affection.
I still have her brother Billy who is a sweetheart and sometimes in the shadows of evening when he walks by my bed, it is as if I am seeing her.
I still slip up and call some of the other kittys "Lola" when I am talking to them.
Maybe I'm getting senile in my old age but maybe that is her little way of saying
"Hello, I am still with you".
Although she is gone from my life, She remains very much alive in my heart and memory.
I still love you Lola
Always and forever
