Vets
How To Choose the Right one For You

Vets are something that every caring pet owner will need at some time. There's just no getting away from it, our cats will get sick or injured at some point and it is at these times we will need professional medical care for them.

Pet doctors and animal care centres do get a bit of a hard wrap sometimes. This is because not all animal practices are created equal.

Some are run by big commercial companies, who sadly can be influenced by profit. Now I'm not saying they are all like this but it is important to ask around your local neighbourhood for recommendations and other pet owners experiences, before you choose a medical professional for your cat.

Choosing A Vet

The best time to choose a vet is before you actually need one. Here are my tips on the best way to find a vet that will suit your needs.

  • Speak to neighbours about there experiences with local practices. Especially other cat owners.

  • Find out from the practices if they specialise in small et care. Some may be more expert in larger animals such as horses.

  • Find out the surgery hours and make sure you have all contact details to hand.

  • Find out if they work with certain insurance companies. Some have a preferred company they like to work with.

  • Find out if the practice will work with your cat insurance company and process the claims for you. If they do this means that you will not have to pay for treatment up front and claim back later.

  • Find out if the practice has any emergency services, such as out of hours visits, hospital or specialist support.

  • Find out some of the practices basic costs. However do not base your decision on price alone. Experience and care is worth so much more.

Recommend Your Favourite Vets

Vets are very much-unsung heroes. Every day they save the lives of our faithful animal friends and never get really thanked for all their dedicated hard work.

Well now you can let everyone know why your one is so special and say a BIG THANK YOU to your veterinary and recommend them to others.

If you would like to let other visitors know why your veterinary surgeon is so good at what they do simply submit your recommendation here and we will add your details to our website.

The more you can tell us about why you think your vet is so good at what they do and your experiences with them the more valuable information you are providing to others. Why not add a picture of your cat or pet and show what good health they are in, it will really make your page stand out

I am very grateful for my own veterinary surgeon, he has looked after three of my cats now over the last 12 years and every time he has been gentle and reassuring and always helpful.

All of our cats have never been afraid of him, they simply let him do whatever he needs to do without one of complaint. I think they know he is not there to hurt them and that they always feel better after seeing him.

Even when we had to make the painful decision to have Little Mo put to sleep, he was there reassuring us and explaining the whole process to us so that we knew she would not feel a thing. He even offered to stay with her over night at the hospital to monitor her and keep her comfortable while we made our decision as the best course of action. He will always be in our hearts for that.
