what does it mean when my cat does this?

my husband and were just sitting on the couch watching TV and our male cat (who was on the floor)rolls over on his back with all four legs/paws spread open and just stares at us, what does this mean?

Um I think he wants his tummy tickled. Its a submissive pose and is basically saying that you are boss.
Way he chose that moment to do this I don't think we will ever know, something was going through his mind to make him want to show you that he is submissive to you.
