What is wrong with kitty?

by Rya

I recently moved into a basement, I have found some little moths and at least one millipede (or centipede) or something. My cat has started meowing strangely, always wants to go upstairs, sometimes even when I'm sitting in the basement with her. I came home today and her face is bleeding. She has been scratching it more than usual, and she usually has facial acne, but she's bleeding on the chin and her cheeks...and it's very red around her eyes. I have no idea what's wrong and am extremely worried. Please help?

Hi well it could be many things causing this. She may be allergic to something in the new apartment, she may have a parsite such as mites or fleas which are causing her to itch or it may be a behavior issue caused by feeling anxious about her new surroundings.

you will have to do some investigations, can you see anything on her skin or fur, have you treated her for fleas etc. Does the new apartment need treating for fleas or dust mites etc.

Please see my pages about how to deal with fleas

https://www.our-happy-cat.com/cat-fleas.html

Fleas can lie dormant for years and come alive when a animal comes by so this could well be what has happened here.

i hope you can tract down the source soon, it can't be very nice for you or your poor cat.

best wishes Kate
