whatsa matta with Jazzbo?

We have a sweet, 8-year old neutered tomcat named Jazz. In the last several weeks his "meower" seems to be messed up. His meow now sounds crackly, like he's hoarse or something. It used to be a sweet "normal" meow. He still acts the same. Still eats & sleeps normally and seems in good spirits otherwise. Anything to worry about?
Also, he has always been a "one-person-at-a-time" cat. He only wants either me OR my wife attending to him ALONE. When one or the other comes out the door while the other is with him..he will quickly make an exit through the back gate. What causes this behavior?
Thank you!

first answer is he may simply have a sore throat like we all get from time to time. But if it has gone on for a while it could be worth checkinmg with a vet that he doesn't have a foreign bosy caught in his throat like a seed or grass.
Secondly, who knows why cats do anything. they all seem to have their funny little ways and rituals. It could simply be a habit he has got into. I wouldn't worry and just put it down to a cat quirk.
