why does my tom cat do this

hi

i have a 10month old kitten that my tom cat got prenante before i could get her done but the other day my tom cat kept trying to mount her again why would he keep trying to mount her if she not in season

Hi well Tom cats are driven instinctively to mate and as they don't have a season and are basically at the ready as it were at all times if there is a female around, sometimes that is all that is needed regardless if they are in season or not.

However if your female is pregnant she may still be giving off certain scents which is enticing the male cat. usually however the female cat will tell him where to go if he tries anything. i would not worry too much and just let them get one with sorting things out for themselves.
