my cat seem healthy, he eat goes to the litter box. Drinks water, runs around as much as a 13 year old cat should. But with all the food he eats up to 4 cans a day, it seem to be losing weight. any thoughts or suggestions.

thanks

Oh dear, he should definitely not be eating four cans of food a day. In a healthy cat this would make them very fat indeed. No it sounds to me like he may have a condition to do with his thyroid. It makes them very hungry but they are not able to process the nutrients and so loose weight. My own cat had this and luckily we got her treated in time, she was fine afterwards. the trouble is the longer it goes on for they start to loose muscle as well. A trip to the vets is needed now I'm afraid. Often the thyroid needs to be removed.

best wishes Kate
