Matting problem resolved

My 16 year old Persian cat Tweetybird was in a similar situation witerrie matting of her formerly beautiful long hair. I thought perhaps it was because she was old and not grooming herself. I took her to my vet, he did some testing and she actually had/ had kidney disease.. I started her on fluids every other day and lo and behold no more matting at all.
Her coat is back to being beautiful and it has been about 7 months that I started her on the fluids. I am now giving fluid every third day. Poor Tweety wa simply dehydrated due to her kidney disease.
