cat in a new place

If i want someone to lookafter my cat while i go on holidays and leave the cat with them in their house, will the cat act weirdly,or be scared because the place is new to them.

will the cat (indoor cat) try to escape and get back to my house because ive heard that cats dont like different places and like their home(ive seen examples too)

Hi yes it is very likely that your cat will not feel happy in the strange home and could indeed escape. It would be much better if your friend could visit every day to feed your cat or perhaps a neighbour.

However if this is your only option i would suggest that your friend keeps the cat in one room for the period of the holiday making sure they are not able to get out and they provide lots of familiar things for the cat like their bed, plenty of toys, their litter tray etc.
With cat shelters who look after cats while their owners are on holiday the cat are luckily to have purpose built cages which will allow them to be outside if they wish.

At the end of the day it very much depends on how your cat is and if they are used to being able to go outside etc as to what would be best for your cat while you are away.

best wishes kate
