Cat Lays on us at night

WHY DOSE MY CAT LIKE TO LAY ON ME AND MY WIFE WHILE WE ARE SLEEPING AT NIGHT?

hi
i have been asked this question a lot lately and I wonder if it has anything to do with the nights being colder. My guess is yes.

My cat does this and i have always said it is because we are a giant hot water bottle for them. Cats are smart and they know the warmest place to sleep.

I don't think there is much else involved with this behavior, apart from perhaps liking to be as close to their owners as possible :)
