After my 5 month old kitten eats she licks her lips which I assume is normal cleaning her face etc but one time I mimicked her and she got really excited and ran up to my face and started twitching her mouth and chin as if to copy me! Now if I lick or 'smack' my lips when she is near me she does it too! It's quite hilarious but does it mean anything? She seems quite happy and excited when we do this lol!

Hi
sounds really cute to me. My own cat will lick his lips when i am eating my food and if i lick my lips he will also sometimes copy me.

Perhaps its a automatic reflex similar to when someone yawns in front of you, it makes you yawn too.

I don't think this is any thing to worry about though.

best wishes KAte
