cat losing weight and over grooming

My cat is losing weight over past month, and seems to be licking his hair off. Now he acts like he has a cold and his eyes look funny. But he's still eating and playing like normal

Hi Tersesa
I am not a vet and so cannot give you a diagnosis. However your cat definitely sounds ill. Your cat should not be losing weight at this rate and the over grooming could also be a sign of anxiety in your cat and if they are not feeling well this could be the cause.

I would recommend that you get your cat to a vet as soon as possible. weight loss can happen very quickly, i know from my own cat who by the time she visited the vet was not only losing fat from her body but also muscle. in her case it was a thyroid problem, happily she is now back to her old self after treatment.

best wishes kate
