Cat seems to be grieving

Ever since my grandpa died my cat has been acting weird. She usually sleeps in this one room, but lately she been sleeping upstairs. She only slept upstairs when my grandpa slept in that room. She also lets me carry her, which she never let me carry her before. Is there something wrong with my cat?

Hi it could simply be that your cat is grieving for the loss of your grandfather. It is well known that cats do feel loss just like we do and so as with us it is normal.

It is not unusual for cats to change their behavior from time to time and she may now feel like she wants more attention from you and that is why she is allowing you to carry her.

I doubt whether she is ill, normally the signs of illness would be loss of appetite or toilet issues not being able to go etc. or some other obvious illness, such as being in pain.

Don't worry too much, give her a little time and unless other symptoms appear i'm sure she will be ok again in a while.

best wishes Kate
