Cats are hissing at each other

ive had two cats since they were kittens, they are 2 and a half now. all of a sudden the girl cat has started hissing and growling at her brother every time he goes near her. why is she doing this and how can i get her to stop? is she going to hurt the boy cat? please help! thanks

I will answer this question assuming that both cats are neutered/spayed because if not then this could be the cause.

So otherwise it could be something known as aggression truama. This is caused when one cat blames the other for something which has made them afraid ie a loud bang or tail being trod on.

You will have to reintroduce the cats to each other again over a period of a week or so. I know it sounds odd and a little tediuos but it really is the best way to return harmony to their relationship. Please see the introduction procedure here https://www.our-happy-cat.com/introducing-cats.html
