cats belly got big in one week

my older male cat stomach has doubled in size this past week. not the belly fat that hangs down. it has gotten larger on his sides near his ribs. he has also become sluggish still walking but only a few steps then lays down. hes not eating or drinking much. hes an out door cat. he lets me pet him all over and still purrs. no wounds on the outside of his body. whats wrong with him

i don't like the sound of this at all, it could be a bad case of worms or it may be a growth of some sort. His behavior and symptom,s definitely suggest an illness of some sort and your only option is to take him to the vets as soon as you can. the sooner you can take him the better chance he will have of a swift recovery.
