Male cat urine

by Teri

Our male cat sprayed in a few spots around our house. Would a female kitten/cat be less inclined to mark over the established sent than a male kitten/cat would?

Hi
well female cats do scent spray too as territory is just as important to them as male cats. However if cats are spayed / neutered then they are less territorial and so are less likely to spray.

Getting rid of every trace of the urine is important as this will prevent as you say over spraying from other cats. Sometimes it can be difficult to see that every drop as been got rid of and even the smallest speck can attract a cat again. Black lights are useful fr seeing little specks which remain as well as using the right cleaner to get rid of the scent. i have a page about this which you may find of further help
