My cat does not drink water

I'm concerned that I only very occasionally see my cat drink water. He has NEVER to my knowledge drank water from his nice ceramic water bowl, I've occasionally seen him drink from the trays that catch the water underneath pot plants but it's summer now and they're all dry. I change his water every day and he appears to be healthy and happy but I do get concerned. He's obviously getting water from somewhere but I have absolutely no idea where. How can I convince my cat to drink some more water- preferrably from his bowl!

Hi
Cats get water from their food if you feed them wet food and also from puddles, water butts etc outside. However if a cat is not getting enough fluid then this can cause urinary problems especially for male cats.

We had a female cat that used to get infections all the time until we stopped feeding her wet food and gave her only good quality complete dry cat food. then this made her thirsty and she began to rink more water. Our two new boy cats are fed only dry food and they drink plenty of water from their bowls.

It is perfectly fine to feed only dry food to your cat as long as it is a good quality one (not Go cat).

best wishes Kate
