My himalayan cat has a red, irritated and rather stinky behind.

My 3 1/2 year old himalyan cats's behind is red and irrated at times. He also has a rather smelly behind. I feed him Science Diet cat food for sensitive stomach. He weighs about 10 pounds and seems to be healthy. He isn't an active cat by any means and perfers to lay back and watch the world go by. But this has always been his attitude. He is neutered and declawed. I don't know if this is normal, as though he doesn't act like he hurts or anything. Should i take him to the vet? Confused?

Hi
yes i would take him for a check up. he may have blocked anal glands or some other irritant in that area which will need to be examined.

the cat should not have a red behind and this is certainly not normal.

Hope he is better soon

best wishes Kate
