my poor cat

My 13 year old male cat has recently been diagnosed with an over active thyroid and had also been prescribed betablocker for his heart as it beating too fast,in the past month or so i have noticed that he has started to eat cat litter on a regular basis,i am very worried and have taken him to the vet,he says that he can feel a thickening in his stomach, have you ever heard of cats doing this??

I must admit I have not. All I can assume is that it is to do with him being anxious, perhaps the new drugs are making him a little odd and this is the cause of his actions.

Perhaps it may be a good idea to change to a paper based litter one that does not have chemicals on it if possible, hopefully this will be able to pass through more easily if he does eat it.

I am sorry to hear that your cat is unwell, My old cat had a thyroid and heart condition too.

best wishes Kate
