My two cats are suddenly fighting

One of my indoor cats of ten years got outside yesterday for the first time and we did not see him till 7 hours later! Since he has been back our other cat (his brother Moe) has been attacking him every time they get close to each other. Is this something that will last? And why is Moe doing this to his brother?

Hi This is a common issue known as aggression trauma. Basically the confidence of the two cats needs to be rebuilt and this has to be done slowly and in a controlled way to ensure that this confidence can be restored. The process for doing this is the same as if you were introducing two new cats to each other. the process is described on this page
