post natal complications for my cat

Two days ago my cat gave birth to 8 kittens. She is a little over a year old and it was her first litter. I've noticed today that when she lays down her stomach shakes. When she gets up and walks she stick her right leg back and meows like she is in some sort of pain. Does she need to see a vet or is this normal?

Hi
No I would not say this was normal. 8 kittens is a lot especially for a first litter. She may have damaged her pelvis during birth. So yes i would say that a check up by a vet would be a good idea just to be on the safe side.

Sometimes it can be difficult to recognize illness in our cats as they are very good at hiding symptoms from us. But as you have noticed something strange it is always a good idea to have it checked out.

Hope all is well

Kate
