Cat Suddenly Acting Different.

Our 8 month old (strictly indoor) kitten who it spunky, active, affectionate, and LOVES dinner time with her canned food has been different today. She didn't go exploring much, slept a lot, has been acting scared of us (running away or hiding) and wasn't dancing all over the kitchen happily waiting for her dinner tonight. We actually put her in front of her bowl to coax her to eat. She did eat but, much slower and more cautious then usual. She is still very skittish of us in the room and if she's not asleep, she hiding and watching from a safe distance.

Any ideas on what might be wrong? We are very worried and if she doesn't improve in the next 24 hours we'll be taking her to the vet.

You are taking the correct attitude with this change in behavior with your kitten. If she is no better in 24 hours a trip to the vet is the best option.

Kittens and indeed cats can suffer from little viruses or tummy upsets just like us humans and often they will seem a little under the weather for a or two. But with kittens you do have to be a little more caustious as they may need a little mor help to get better.

Lets hope it is just a 24 hour hting.

best wishes Kate

She is doing better. Excited about dinner again, got her "motorboat" purr back, and isn't hiding anymore. She's still not exploring or playing as much, but she's getting there. I think it was just a virus or something. I'm happy that she improved so fast and didn't have to make a vet trip.

Thank you for your input.
